Owner & General Manager

With his love for the desert and off-road racing going back beyond his first Toyota truck in 1988, John never hesitated when an opportunity presented itself to partner with an existing Toyota repair shop that was struggling financially. Hoping to realize his dream of building and racing off-road race trucks, it seemed like a golden opportunity. Wrong, wrong, wrong. The company and existing management was in much worse shape than he first realized.

Moving to the front desk, hiring and building a great team, and focusing on providing the best dealership alternative for Toyota and Lexus service and repair became John's new direction. Thus, our mantra and philosophy was born:

"We put it back together the way Toyota built it."

With this as the backbone for the company's direction, years later San Diego Trux has become a well-known and respected independent service and repair center for all of your Toyota and Lexus parts and service. Come on by and say hi to John, and meet the guys.

Married with children and grandchildren, off-road racing seems like a distant dream.

Shop Foreman

Hired in 1998 as an entry level technician after graduating from UTI, a prestigious automotive technical school, Darrell has advanced to become the shop foreman and lead automotive technician. With continuing education and training Darrell has achieved ASE Master Certification status with L1 Advanced Level Certification. Darrell stays current with all the latest Toyota tech updates and training programs. You might also encounter Darrell at the front counter on one of your visits where he does an equally great job with customer service and evaluating customers' needs.

Married with two children, Darrell is truly a part of the Trux family. He is active in his community, sits on the school board, and enjoys hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, and playing with his kids in whatever is left of his free time.

Secretly in Charge around Here

Seven years old now (not at the time of this picture) and anxious to come to work full-time, Hunter has been visiting the shop since he was born. He looks forward to keeping up with his after school automotive training so that he can take over the whole enchilada one day.
